Sheep Producers Australia recently welcomed the 2026 Global Sheep Producers Forum (GSPF) Next Generation delegates to Australia, hosting a week-long program that showcased the diversity of the nation's sheep industry before culminating at LambEx 2026 in Adelaide.
Young sheep producers from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States travelled through Victoria and South Australia, visiting commercial farms, processing facilities, wool handling operations and research organisations to gain a first-hand understanding of Australian sheep production.
The tour provided opportunities to compare farming systems, explore different parts of the supply chain and discuss the shared opportunities and challenges facing sheep producers across the globe.
At LambEx, delegates joined industry leaders from across Australia and New Zealand, while several Next Generation participants also took to the stage to share their perspectives on the future of the global sheep industry.
Following LambEx, the group travelled to New Zealand's South Island to experience different production systems, while continuing to build international relationships and industry networks.
The 2026 Next Generation program will continue in September with a series of participant-led webinars covering topics including agricultural technology and innovation, social licence, succession planning, competing land use and drench resistance.
