Sheep Producers Australia is the national peak body representing Australia's 20,000 sheep meat producers.

We work hard on behalf of sheep producers to enhance the productivity, profitability and sustainability of the sector.

We do this by:

  • engaging with our members

  • advocating on behalf of producers with government and industry stakeholders

  • monitoring investment of producer levies which are invested in ongoing research and development and marketing.

  • consulting with industry and sharing important information and solutions

  • improving understanding of the key issues facing Australian sheep producers.

As the national peak industry council, Sheep Producers Australia also has a legislative responsibility under the Australian Meat and Live-stock Industries Act 1997 to recommend sheep and lamb levy rates to the Australian Government and provide policy recommendations to the Federal Minister for Agriculture.

Vision

An Australian Sheep industry leading the world in the quality of our products, excellence in animal and environmental care and capability of our producers.

Purpose

To provide strategic leadership for Australia’s sheep industry that supports a productive, profitable, and sustainable future.

Sheep Producers Australia acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land in all states and territories on which we work. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past, present and emerging, and honour their history, cultures, and traditions of storytelling.
