Sheep Producers Australia engages with SALRC on key priorities

Sheep Producers Australia’s Policy Director Corinne Dooley, recently presented to the South Australian Livestock Research Council (SALRC) about the organisation’s key policy priorities, including market access, climate and environment, animal welfare, product integrity, biosecurity and the red meat transaction levy review.

These priorities reflect the issues sheep producers consistently raise with SPA and the areas where the organisation is already actively working on their behalf - from advocating for stronger market access outcomes and practical climate policy settings, to improving traceability, animal welfare standards and biosecurity preparedness across the supply chain.

A consistently identified top priority for sheep producers - and part of the SALRC discussions -  remains ensuring the NLIS Database uplift and the eNVD app are fully functional and fit for purpose, a critical foundation for traceability, biosecurity response, market confidence and producer efficiency.

Sheep Producers Australia values its relationship with SALRC and looks forward to continuing to work closely with the Council and its networks to support a resilient, profitable and prosperous future for the Australian sheep industry.
