Sheep Producers Australia stands by The Future Flock Economic Analysis and the important evidence base it provides for the Australian sheep industry.
Following concerns raised about the report, Sheep Producers Australia asked the report authors to review each issue identified in detail.

That process found a small number of errors relating to wording, references and definitions. These have been corrected in an updated version of the report.
Importantly, these corrections do not change the economic modelling, its results or the conclusions drawn from it.
Most issues raised about the report, however, were not errors in the report. They resulted from complex economic modelling and data being interpreted incorrectly, including comparisons between figures, measures and scenarios that were not directly comparable.
The submission received by Sheep Producers Australia used AI to interrogate the Economic Analysis and identified a series of apparent errors.
However, in many cases the AI analysis did not correctly interpret the economic modelling, definitions or context underpinning the figures.
When those claims were examined by people with the relevant expertise, most did not represent errors in the report. Rennie have now made updates to the Report – none of those changes affect the model or results.
Sheep Producers Australia welcomes scrutiny of its work. Where genuine errors are identified, we will correct them. Where questions are raised about complex modelling or analysis, we will work with the relevant experts to test those concerns properly and – if required – better explain the modelling or analysis.
Sheep Producers Australia remains confident in The Future Flock Economic Analysis and the evidence it provides to help the sheep industry plan for the decade ahead.
