Media Statement I Sheep Producers Australia welcomes new Policy Council Members

Sheep Producers Australia’s vision is to be a trusted influencer, leader and advisor for Australian sheep producers, industry, and government. The Policy Council (Council) has oversight over all policy matters, to ensure that Sheep Producers Australia’s policy agenda is strategic, disciplined, and focused, to develop policy and advocate on issues that are relevant to the Australian sheep industry.


The Council is a dynamic, skills-based unit comprising seven State Farming Organisation (SFO) representatives and five independent representatives. The Council members provide input into the development of proactive industry policy to influence the framework that guides the sheep industry to a productive, sustainable, and profitable future.

The Council ensures all our members are represented to provide a united voice on national industry issues.” Andrew Spencer Independent Chair Sheep Producers Australia.


Working with Sheep Producers Australia’s policy team, the Council members are empowered to guide the content, direction and monitoring of activities that are closely linked to Red Meat 2030, the Sheep Sustainability Framework and Sheep Producers Australia’s Strategic Plan.

New Council Members are Anthony Hurst (Livestock SA Member), Twynam Cunningham (Pastoralists and Graziers Association WA Member), Angus Denholm (Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association Member), George Nichols (Independent Member), Brydie Creagh (Independent Member). The new Council members officially commenced their term after the Sheep Producers Australia’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was held on Wednesday 29 November 2023.
