First Leadersheep Forum to encourage industry’s emerging leaders
20 June 2018
Sheep Producers Australia will host its inaugural Leadersheep Forum ahead of LambEx 2018 in Perth, designed to connect current and emerging sheep industry leaders prior to the industry’s flagship event.
The Leadersheep Forum will be held on Sunday 5 August 2018 and features international LambEx guests Charlie Arnot from the US Center for Food Integrity and Twitter’s most famous farmer James Rebanks, better known as ‘The Shepherd’.
President Allan Piggott said the Sheep Producers Australia Leadersheep Forum will be the place to be to interact and exchange ideas with other industry and emerging leaders.
“It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the sheep industry, network, laugh, be challenged and see how your future leadership journey may unfold,” Mr Piggott said.
“The forum will also officially launch the Sheep Producers Australia Leadersheep Network and outline the range of opportunities and professional development on offer.”
Mr Piggott said SPA believed developing the industry’s future leaders was important for continued sound policy development and strategic planning to ensure a strong united voice for producers.
“We know that the long-term success of the Australian sheep and lamb industry depends on the skills of the people working along the supply chain,” he said.
“At present, we run a number of programs which support sheep producers in the areas of leadership development and building corporate governance skills and will be continuing this through our new Leadersheep Network.
“The Leadersheep Network offers another way to engage with Sheep Producers Australia to influence and shape the future of the sheep industry. It’s your opportunity to contribute for the good of the entire industry, by providing a collective voice to decision-makers.
“More information on the new Leadersheep Network will be available at the forum, where all producers and people in the industry can sign-up for network updates.”
The Leadersheep Forum will be hosted by Sheep Producers Australia, with support of the Department for Agriculture and Water Resources and Meat & Livestock Australia.
